Fire Chief Steven M. Gillespie

Chief Gillespie started in the fire service in 1992 and joined the department as the Training Officer in September of 2008; Chief Gillespie was appointed to the Fire Chief’s position on May 4, 2009. Chief Gillespie is a certified Firefighter, Fire Officer, Instructor, and Paramedic. Additionally, Chief Gillespie holds an Associate Degree in Fire Science Technology, Bachelor Degree in Organizational Leadership, a Master’s Degree in Executive Fire Service Leadership, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in organizational development.


Assistant Chief Kelly Brooks
Fire Prevention Division

Asst. Chief Brooks has thirteen years of fire service experience and has been with the Wheat Ridge Fire Department since 2002. Assistant Chief was appointed the position of Fire Marshal on August 24, 2009 after having previously served as Investigator and Chief Investigator in the Fire Investigations Bureau. Assistant Chief Brooks is a Registered Architect, Colorado State Certified Fire Inspector III-Plans Examiner, Colorado State Certified Fire Suppression System Inspector, International Code Council Fire Inspector II, and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. Fire Assistant Chief Brooks has a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Design and a Master’s Degree in Architecture.


Assistant Fire Chief Christopher J. Lukosky
Operations Division

Assistant Chief Lukosky began his fire service career in January of 1995 and joined the Wheat Ridge Fire Department in April of 2005. Chief Lukosky was appointed to the rank of Assistant Chief on May 19, 2010. Chief Lukosky is a certified Firefighter, Instructor, Emergency Medical Technician, Driver\Operator, and Aircraft Rescue Firefighter.


Assistant Chief Bob Olme
Training Division

Bob Olme started his service in fire in 1984 in southern Colorado. He has served in the Monte Vista , Sterling, North-West Fire and Fairmount Fire departments as a firefighter, engineer, lieutenant, captain, Division Chief and Fire Chief prior to being appointed District Chief in Wheat Ridge in October of 2011. He is certified in the State of Colorado as a Firefighter, Instructor, Hazardous Materials Technician, Emergency Medical Technician, Type 3 Incident Commander and nationally as a Type 2 Liaison Officer and a Type I Human Resource Specialist. Bob also holds a bachelor degree in Fire Service Administration. Bob’s duties include coordination of training for the department as well as a district chief on C-shift.


Captain/Acting District Chief Brian Eberle
Support Service Division

Captain Brian Eberle started with the Wheat Ridge Fire Department in April of 2003.  In May of 2011, Captain Eberle was appointed to the Support Service Division after being promoted to Captain in October of 2010, after previously serving as a Lieutenant in the Training Division.  Captain Eberle is a certified Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, State Proctor, Driver Operator, and Emergency Medical Technician.  Captain Eberle currently holds an Associate’s degree in Fire Science and is working towards the completion of a Bachelors in Public Administration.  Along with his responsibilities within the Support Services Division, Captain Eberle is the liaison for the Emergency Operations Committee for the department and has a trained scent-discriminating bloodhound used for search and rescue operations.
