DIVISION of FIRE PREVENTION
OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, the primary function of Division of Fire Prevention is to protect property and increase the level of fire safety for both the public and for firefighters. In that effort, the Division of Fire Prevention provides public education, fire investigations, plan reviews and inspections.

Plan Reviews and Inspections
The Division of Fire Prevention is responsible for performing all new construction plan and building reviews and inspections along with annual inspections of all existing commercial buildings within the fire district. This includes:
- Construction Permits
- Operational Permits
- Safety Inspection Program
Fire Investigations
The Fire Investigation Bureau is responsible for identifying the cause and origin of all fire that occur within the Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District to the best of its ability. The Fire Investigation Bureau operates under the direction of two Deputy Fire Marshals and is located at Station 72.
Life Safety Education
The Division of Fire Prevention provides and promotes a variety of fire safety public education programs within the community in addition to participating in a wide variety of community oriented events. This includes:
